Calcasieu Parish Schools See Largest Enrollment Growth in Recent Years
The number of K–12 students enrolled with the Calcasieu Parish School Board is on the rise for the fourth consecutive year, with this year marking the most significant increase in recent years.
“We are ecstatic about the early enrollment numbers coming in here in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason VanMetre. “We know the education we can offer here is unique, and we’re grateful that our families see the value in it as well. These numbers are promising as to what lies ahead for us here in Calcasieu.”
This week’s figures show that 27,449 K–12 students are currently enrolled in CPSB schools, an increase of nearly 400 students from this time last year. The growth reflects not only an upward trend over the past four years but also an increase from the final enrollment count at the end of the 2024–2025 school year.
Enrollment figures over the past four years:
- August 2021 – Beginning of 21–22 School Year: 25,400
- August 2022 – Beginning of 22–23 School Year: 26,581
- August 2023 – Beginning of 23–24 School Year: 27,000
- August 2024 – Beginning of 24–25 School Year: 27,071
- May 2025 – End of 24–25 School Year: 26,799
- August 2025 – Beginning of 25–26 School Year: 27,449
Schools with the largest enrollment increases compared to last year:
- S.J. Welsh Middle School: +49
- Prien Lake Elementary School: +46
- W.W. Lewis Middle School: +45
- Oak Park Elementary School: +44
- St. John Elementary School: +43
Official student counts will be submitted to the Louisiana Department of Education following another enrollment check in early October.
