CPSB now home to ETS testing site

The Calcasieu Parish School Board is proud to announce the addition of a Graduate Record Examinations (GRE®) and PRAXIS® testing site in the district. The site, located in CPSB’s Curriculum and Instruction Building at 600 S. Shattuck St. in Lake Charles, is now an approved ETS Certified Test Administrator Services (CTAS). 

The process to become a certified testing site began in August of 2023. Since then, district staff has worked to meet CTAS requirements, which include technical, facility, and staffing stipulations.

“The addition of this testing site is going to have a tremendous impact on education in our parish,” said Superintendent Dr. Shannon LaFargue. “Our stakeholders deserve to be able to further their educational journeys in this manner right here in our parish. We are excited about this development, and we are proud of the work of our staff to get us to this moment.”

Prior to the existence of this testing site, individuals traveled to various other testing locations outside of the parish and/or state to take these exams. Having this site in Calcasieu not only allows stakeholders to remain local, but it also gives future CPSB educators a glimpse into the district before joining the mission of building foundations for the future.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our facility as a testing site for all future educators to take Praxis exams as well as educators needing to take the Graduation Record Examination for Masters and Doctoral level studies,” said Tony McCardle, Director of CPSB Career and Technical Education. “We look forward to serving our education community here in Calcasieu Parish and the Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas region.”  

Testing dates are now available, and tests can be scheduled here.
