U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 356 schools as the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. T.S. Cooley Elementary Magnet School is amongst the winners for the third time in school history.
“Receiving this national award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and support of our entire school community,” said T.S. Cooley principal, Emily Alcock. “It reflects not only our commitment to academic excellence, but also our spirit of innovation and resilience. This honor inspires us to continue striving for greatness and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.”
The school is one of only seven schools to receive this award in Louisiana, and one of only three to receive it in the state for being named an Exemplary High Performing School. These schools are among the top performers in the state as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
“We are so proud of the accomplishments of the faculty, staff and students of T.S. Cooley Magnet Elementary,” said Dr. Jason VanMetre, CPSB Superintendent. “A school being named a Blue Ribbon School is an amazing feat. T.S. Cooley is a shining example of the CPSB motto: Building Foundations for the Future.”
A celebration will be held soon for all students, faculty, and staff.
