Common Core State Standards

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS), adopted by forty-three states and the District of Columbia, are a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). The standards outline what concepts and skills students need to know at each grade level. Common Core was developed to ensure all students, no matter where they live or which school they attend, receive a high-quality rigorous education to set them on a lifelong path for success. These new sets of standards replaced Louisiana's former standards, or Grade Level Expectations, in ELA and mathematics.
