The 2019-2020 juniors did not get the opportunity to take the state sponsored ACT in March due to Covid 19 school closures. The test was re-scheduled for October 6 but again cancelled due to Hurricane Laura. The decision has been made that all 2020-2021 junior AND senior students will participate in the March 2021 state test date. Senior students applying to college are encouraged to take a national test before that if trying to improve their scores. Register at www.act.org. Below are the upcoming test dates and the dates regular and late registration ends.
December 12 (registration ends November 6th & 20th)
February 6 (registrations ends January 8th & 15th)
April 17 (registration ends March 12th & 26th)
June 12 (registration ends May 7th & 21)
ACT fee waivers are available for junior and senior students. Please see Mrs Doland if interested. These waivers will cover either the December or February test and can be used to cover late fees for the December test for sure.
ACT Boot Camps have been scheduled.
The first will be Thursday, February 11 from 8-3 and juniors were pre-selected based on test scores. There is a list of these students posted in the high school hall. Lunch will be provided to these students and they will take a practice ACT test and receive the score that day. There is no cost associated with this camp.
The second camp will be Saturday, February 20 from 8-noon here at school in Ms. Dupuis' room. Brenda DeFelice, former Bell City math teacher and current Sam Houston math teacher, will present this camp and all four subject areas will be covered. Lunch will be provided to the students free of charge. The Boot Camp costs $50/student but BCHS will pay $25. Students will pay a $25 deposit to Mrs. Doland by Thursday, February 18 and they will be reimbursed the deposit after they attend camp. Failure to attend the camp will result in loss of deposit. Checks need to be made out to BCHS. Juniors not pre-selected for the 1st Boot Camp have until this this Wednesday afternoon to sign up for the 2nd boot camp. Beginning Thursday morning seniors will also have the opportunity to sign up for the camp until the 25 slots are filled. Any student who hasn't paid the deposit by February 18th will be dropped from the list.
