Prime Time Family Reading Box

About PRIME TIME First Aid Kits
At the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and PRIME TIME Inc., we have been working for almost 30 years to support families in launching a lifelong love of reading and learning through PRIME TIME Family Reading programs. Recognized by the Library of Congress for advancing best practices in literacy promotion, our programs feature joyful and engaging story-sharing and discussion practices that benefit the entire family. Now, through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, 800 Louisiana families will be able to bring PRIME TIME directly into their homes. PRIME TIME First Aid Kits are designed to provide access to PRIME TIME programming when in-person programs are not possible. The kits include a free set of high-quality children's books to build families' home libraries, as well as the caregiver-focused PRIME TIME Grown-Up Guide. Combined, the kit's resources will support Louisiana families in connecting with one another through easy-to-implement story-sharing and discussion strategies. The kit's books focus on themes families are likely to experience during times of crisis, including coping, community, generosity and altruism, and resilience.
In 2020, roughly one in four Louisiana students still lack access to the internet. In response to this barrier and the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, LEH’s PRIME TIME Family Reading program has been adapted into PRIME TIME First Aid Kits, all-in-one boxes of books and supplies that will be mailed or distributed directly to families. Applications to receive a First Aid Kit opens, Monday, November 9, 2020
The online application is simple and quick!
