National Merit Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships that began in 1955. United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) only once as a junior, which serves as an initial screen of over 1.5 million entrants each year.

Sam Houston is proud to announce that one of our own, Annaliese DeFelice, earned a perfect score of 1520 and a perfect selection index of 228 on the PSAT/NMSQT!  Congratulations, Annee, on representing us so well!
