APRIL 24 A.M. UPDATE

Please know that we will be releasing more information very soon regarding grades and other specific curriculum information, as we know this is very important to our families. 

2019-2020 REMEDIATION OPPORTUNITY 

We'll start this morning's update with a brief comment on grades for our kindergarten through 11th grade students. Academic content remediation  and grade recovery may be available to qualifying students who might have experienced academic challenges in previous nine-week periods of the current school year. Students who think they may qualify or their parent/guardian can contact their teacher(s) via email or Blackboard to determine their status. We will be releasing additional information next week regarding grades.  

VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS FOR TEACHERS 

All CPSB teachers will soon be holding virtual office hours. The exact hours will be determined by individual schools and shared on websites by May 4. Please visit each school website for the posted times, which will serve as a really great opportunity to contact teachers if you need assistance or have specific questions.  

GRADUATIONS 

At this time our high school principals are submitting plans for both live and video graduation ceremonies. We are awaiting additional guidelines regarding safety measures from the state and the timeline we will be expected to follow for those. We will make further decisions regarding ceremonies once we receive that information. If video graduations take place, each student will have the opportunity to receive their diploma from their principals and take a photos. Those photos will be placed together in a video format and be shared with all senior families.

TECHNOLOGY UPDATES 

CPSB will soon be rolling out 12 school buses equipped with mobile Wi-Fi throughout the district in an effort to provide free Wi-Fi to any staff, students or community members that are in need. The buses will be spread throughout the district and Wi-Fi usage data will be used to determine if a bus needs to relocate. We ask that you maintain the social distancing protocol while using these Wi-Fi hotspots by parking near the bus but staying in your vehicle at all times. Once these buses are dispersed, we will be sharing locations with the public.   

As CPSB shifts to more robust online instruction, the district will be providing personalized training for directors, consultants and teachers. In addition, the Technology Training Team is continuously offering webinars and online training focusing on current tools available for teachers and staff that support standards-based online instruction. 

FEEDING 

The meal delivery program is up and running in our parish. If you have not signed up, you can do so here. We know many of you may have questions about your deliveries. Please direct those questions to the delivery company at info@thsfc.com or call 504-322-1188. Please include the parish you live in, student name(s), the email address used to sign up, and the home address.  

OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PRODUCTS 

Open Enrollment has been going extremely well for the district. We are happy to announce that we have completed nearly 88% of enrollments. We want to thank all of our employees who have completed their open enrollment. We appreciate their patience as we had to adapt to the Call Center. A special thanks to our Principals and Department Heads for assisting in this process.   

Open Enrollment has been extended through April 30, 2020. First Financial will be handling our Open Enrollment through April 24.  Employees not enrolled need to call 1-855-765-4473 Choose Option 6 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  We are asking the locations who are on this week’s schedule to call on their assigned day. 

Our Health Insurance Department will take over all Open Enrollment calls starting April 27 through April 30. Employees can call 217-4240 ext. 3010 or 3013 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. during those dates. 

Please note that employees who have completed their open enrollment and need to make any additional changes need to call by April 30, 2020.

COUNSELING FOR EMPLOYEES 

We know this COVID-Pandemic has been a time of uncertainty for many of our employees. It’s likely this situation is causing stress, anxiety or other uneasy feelings. These feelings are certainly okay and not uncommon.   

Please remember your EAP benefit during this unusual, stressful time.  Solutions EAP continues to offer counseling to our employees, either by video or phone. Just call (337) 310-2822 to schedule an appointment.     

All full time employees, their spouse and minor children that reside with them receive 3 FREE counseling sessions per year/per incident.  The following three sessions are $25/each.
