The Barbe Elementary School campus will look a little different this school year thanks to a special Partner in Education.

Excel Paralubes spent time this summer giving the school somewhat of a makeover. Plant employees spent time cleaning and painting exterior areas and updating the student drop-off/pick-up area and playground.

"It's basically been a good experience for many years for us, and we really look forward to supporting Barbe Elementary," said Charlie Watson, Operation Superintendent at Excel Paralubes. "There's a lot of good people that work here that have the best interest of these students at heart."

Newly painted wooden benches were also added to the student drop-off/pick-up area. The crew finished by pressure washing the front of the building and making upgrades to the east playground area.

"This is very important to us, becuase they have children first as we do," said Barbe Elementary Assistant Principal Laura Nelson. "They're interested in the education of the students, as we are. They want to do whatever they can. They do so much for us."

Excel Paralubes has now been a partner with Barbe Elementary for over two decades.

"As any business that operates in the lake area, it's important to give back to the community," said Watson. "This is one way we can do that. These students here deserve the best that we can offer them."
