August 3, 2022

The Louisiana Department of Education released LEAP scores today for the 21-22 school year. The Calcasieu Parish School Board earned a top ten spot in the state in growth amongst elementary and middle schools. We are incredibly proud of the efforts of our students, teachers, and staff. These results are a testament to the hard work happening day in and day out in Calcasieu.
"This growth is exciting news for our district," says CPSB Superintendent Dr. Shannon LaFargue. "We have endured so much, but our educators' resiliency and commitment to our students inspires us to continue the great efforts by all."
Included in these results are the schools achieving the highest growth in Louisiana. Vincent Settlement Elementary, Nelson Elementary, and DeQuincy Elementary are in the top 15 for one-year growth. Also achieving a top ten placement, T.S. Cooley Elementary tied for 4th in overall performance in the state.
